Ryleigh in Theory

I named this Ryleigh in Theory because I am mostly a collection of guesses, and I’m still learning which parts of me feel permanent and which ones where built to survive a strange short season of my life. Most days I feel less and less like a finished version of myself, and more like a collection of guesses. Some profound, some dramatic, and some held together by a pattern of broken sleep, bad decisions, worse timing, and not eating enough.

Why is it public?

I understand myself better in writing than I do out loud. When I’m rushed to explain how I feel out loud, I suddenly forget every thought I’ve ever had. My brain does this weird thing called shutting down. Very helpful. I get awkward, downplay it, make a joke, and somehow leave the conversation more upset, more confused, and more hurt than I was before it started. Writing gives me time to figure out what the hell I’m actually trying to say.

When I write, I try to be reflective. Even when I’m angry, confused, or fully convinced my life sucks and everything is terrible. My entires usually move through stages: confusion, frustration, overthinking, acceptance, and eventually some kind of lesson. So if you decide to read them, expect the entire emotional process, and not just a polished resolution. Actually, maybe don’t always expect a resolution. Period.

Me handling things normally.

Why a blog and not TikTok?

Because I can’t possibly explore my feelings in a 30 second clip and pretend it explains everything. A blog feels more connected to me. It gives me room for the full thought. The context. The contradictions. The embarrassing parts. I feel like you can’t fit all that shit into a 30 second video or caption.

TikTok shows the moment. I want to write about what the moment meant, why it stayed with me, and what I learned from it.

A blog also gives me room to be introspective without feeling immediately watched. Social media is where you post and strangers immediately decide how wrong, dramatic, or embarrassing it is. Social media is where people run to post shady shit in the heat of the moment. This isn’t that. I want to be slower, more honest, and writte after I’ve actually sat with what happened. Even if I document all the chaos it took to get there.

What you’ll find here:

Stories about friendships, heartbreak, mental health, work rants, identity struggles, and ordinary daily events that take place in my life. I want to tell the truth about the painful parts without pretending they weren’t also occasionally ridiculous. Basically, if I’m going to contemplate my entire existence and get my heart broken, somebody should at least get a good story out of it.

I don’t have all the answers. I do, however, have insane stories, excellent comedic timing after a crisis, and a hungover alter ego who complains all day but somehow turns everything into a comedy show. Or, at least thats what my friends say. Anyway, these are just my theories.
